JOB DESCRIPTION
Purchasing Agent will coordinate activities involved with procuring raw material supplies or component parts including plastics, metals (sheet metals preferred), pulleys, electrical components etc. Also responsible for source selection, part availability, and year-over-year material cost productivity, as directed by purchasing leadership. These products and services are to be secured at cost, quality, and delivery levels consistent with assigned targets established to meet strategic objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Interview and confer with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, negotiate prices and delivery terms, and ensure parts availability.
o Prepare, solicit, collect, analyze, and negotiate requests for quotation and recommend / onboard suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
o Coordinate new suppliers / parts and engineering changes with Materials, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and external suppliers.
o Manage multiple projects simultaneously, resolve problems, meet deadlines and performance objectives, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
o Regularly analyze supplier quality, delivery, and cost metrics to develop and engage for improvement.
o Effectively and tactfully communicate verbally and in writing with external suppliers as well as internal resources to successfully sell initiatives and develop / deliver on actionable objectives.
o Review and analyze materials supplied to identify more cost-effective opportunities; lead cross-functional and remotely located teams to implement and realize improvements.
o Resolve invoice price discrepancies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
o 3 plus years of progressive responsibility in a purchasing function in a manufacturing setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
o Basic knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings of component parts
o Expertise in supplier processes and cost drivers
o Strong familiarity with purchasing and accounting processes
o Experience in strategic sourcing and supplier development
o Excellent communication & negotiation skillsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
